Aegean Airlines has announced plans to resume flights between Birmingham and Athens next year.

The Greek carrier will offer a twice-weekly service from March 28, 2023, operated by an A320 aircraft.

Schedules are as follows:

  • Flight A3642 departs Athens on Tuesdays and Fridays at 0755, arriving into Birmingham at 0945
  • Flight A3643 departs Birmingham on Tuesdays and Fridays at 1035, arriving into Athens at 1610

Aegean first launched its summer seasonal Birmingham-Athens service in 2013, and last operated the route five years ago.

The airline will be the seventh Star Alliance carrier operating at Birmingham airport in 2023.

Commenting on the news Tom Screen, aviation director for the airport, said:

“We are thrilled to welcome back Aegean. I’m sure these Athens services will be well subscribed.”

Earlier this year Aegean opened a new lounge in the Extra Schengen Area A of Athens International airport.

The 1,200 sqm facility has been inspired “by the simple, elegant architecture of Greece”, with materials including marble, terrazzo, glass and wood.
