Scandic Hotels has opened its latest property within the 1920s former Tilgmann printing house in Helsinki.
Scandic Helsinki Hub is located at the crossroads of downtown and the south district and features 352 rooms, including loft-style accommodations and rooms with private terraces. Interiors have been designed by Franz Design, and the Nordic Swan Ecolabel-accredited hotel has preserved many original elements of the building.
The hotel also features eight flexible meeting and event spaces and a co-working lounge.
Further facilities include the Italian restaurant and terrace Trattoria Il Centro, a gym, sauna, cold water bucket showers and yoga room, and a garage with electric car and bike charging.
Aki Kayhko, Head of Scandic Hotels Finland, commented:
“We are delighted to open a new hotel during a period when we’re seeing good development in the Helsinki region where activity levels have returned at our hotels. Scandic Helsinki Hub is a splendid addition to our existing hotel portfolio in the capital as both domestic and intra-Nordic leisure and business travelers are back in our hotels.”
Earlier this year the group announced plans to open a climate-neutral hotel in Sundsvall in the north east of Sweden in 2024.
Scandic is the largest hotel company in the Nordic countries with more than 280 hotels, in operation and under development, in more than 130 destinations.
