Emirates is to rostering its A380 superjumbo onto flights between Dubai and Perth later this year.

The Gulf carrier currently offers a daily service on the route, operated by its B777-300ER, but will swap to the larger A380 from December 1, 2022.

Emirates resumed A380 flights to Brisbane in March this year, and currently offers twice-daily superjumbo services to both Sydney and Melbourne.

Emirates to increase Melbourne service to twice-daily

The announcement coincides with Emirates celebrating the 20th anniversary of flights to Perth this week, having launched a four-times-weekly service in August 2002.

Commenting on the news Perth Airport’s CEO Kevin Brown said:

“Over the past 20 years, Emirates has connected Western Australians across its extensive network of 150 global destinations.

“Back in 2015, Emirates was the first airline to introduce an A380 scheduled service to Perth, and we look forward to welcoming back its flagship A380 aircraft later this year from December 1, 2022.

“Perth Airport will continue to work with our airline partners and the State Government to increase services to Perth as international airline connectivity is crucial for the tourism, business, and education sectors recovery.”
