Hyatt to open Regency hotel in Erbil

Hyatt has unveiled a 93-apartment Residences property in the Iraqi city of Erbil, ahead of the opening of its first hotel in the country later this decade.

The Hyatt Regency Erbil Residences is located next to the World Trade Centre Erbil, and features fully furnished apartments measuring up to 220 sqm, as well as a terrace bar, brasserie restaurant and fitness centre.

The Regency brand will expand further in the city in 2026, when the group opens the 204-room Hyatt Regency Erbil hotel, also located next to the World Trade Centre.

Erbil is the capital of the northern Kurdistan region of Iraq, and is served by several European airlines including Austrian from Vienna and Lufthansa from Frankfurt.

There are currently few International hotel brands present in the city, with exceptions including Rotana and Wyndham’s Ramada offering.
