Business Travel Show Europe has published the results of a new survey around changes to business travel patterns and sentiments as a result of Covid-19.

Over a third of respondents (36 per cent) said that they are now taking fewer trips altogether, with 10 per cent stating that they are taking more longer trips, and 5 per cent increasing their use of rail travel over flights.

Nearly two thirds (63 per cent) of respondents said that they felt they had less choice and flexibility due to changes in travel policies as a result of Covid-19, although the majority of these said that this was understandable rather than frustrating.

After two years of very little business travel, the vast majority said that they felt “fine” about travelling in a post Covid-19 world, with only 6 per cent stating that they were “not confident”.

However 16 per cent said that they would prefer to travel less “because of my – and my family’s – wellbeing”, and the same percentage stating they would like to travel less in order to reduce carbon emissions.

When asked what impact travel had on their wellbeing, 42 per cent of respondents said “I love it and I look forward to it”, while the majority (70 per cent) felt that their organisation was doing enough to support the impact of travelling on their mental and physical health and wellbeing.

The Business Travel Show Europe returns as a fully face-to-face event at London’s Excel this year, with new dates of June 29-30, 2022. Visitor registrations are now open at businesstravelshoweurope.com.
