Plaza Premium Group is set to unveil a new airport lounge at Edinburgh airport this summer.
The 670 sqm facility will be the group’s first in Scotland, and features a gin bar in collaboration with Edinburgh Gin.
The lounge – which is not yet available to book at plazapremiumlounge.com – will be located next to gates 13 and 14, and will offer seating for 165 guests.
Plaza Premium said that “subtle Scottish elements are woven into the interior design, from tartan upholstery to carefully selected local artwork referencing key Scottish landmarks and iconic imagery”.
Facilities will include an ‘Interactive Area’, with large screens showing live sport and entertainment, as well as table football and shuffleboard tables, and “a small climbing wall” for children.
The Plaza Premium Lounge at Edinburgh airport will join existing UK lounges at London’s Gatwick and Heathrow airports – some of which remain closed following the Covid-19 pandemic. A full list of these lounges and their current status can be seen here.
Gail Taylor, director of retail and property at Edinburgh airport said that there was “an overwhelming desire to reunite with family and friends, take that well-earned holiday, or reconnect with clients and we are confident that 2022 will be a key year in travel’s recovery”.
Meanwhile Mr Okan Kufeci, regional general manager, Europe, Middle East, and Africa, Plaza Premium Group, commented:
“We are pleased to offer all these unique features to our travellers at our first Plaza Premium Lounge at Edinburgh Airport. Our latest offerings prove that we are constantly improving our products and services to cater to the different market needs whilst incorporating local touches to the experience.
“We are excited to be able to provide our award-winning, best-in-class signature hospitality in our third location in the UK and to introduce more travellers to the Plaza Premium Group. We look forward to expanding to more locations at major airports in Europe and in the UK in the months to follow.”
With Virgin recently having started its first international flights from Edinburgh, it will be interesting to see what relationship if any the carrier will have with this new Plaza Premium lounge at the airport.
