IHG Hotels and Resorts has opened a hotel under its Avid brand less than three miles from Chicago O’Hare International airport.

Avid Hotel Chicago O’Hare – Des Plaines is the first hotel in Illinois for the rapidly expanding brand, which now has 53 locations open across the US and Mexico.

A complimentary shuttle bus transports guests to the airport, and the hotel is also located directly across from the Allstate Arena.

According to IHG, the new hotel features 99 rooms with high-quality mattresses and linens, a choice of firm and soft pillows, blackout roller shades, a mini fridge, safe, free wifi and a 55-inch TV.

The hotel also has a 24-hour lobby café offering complimentary coffee, hot water, still and sparkling water, and a 24-hour gym with a heated indoor pool.

Karen Gilbride, VP of Avid hotels and Atwell Suites, said:

“With each new hotel opening we are able to welcome travelers to experience avid hotels for the first time, as well as welcome back our passionate fans who eagerly look for our hotels wherever they go. We’re proud to add the avid hotel Chicago O’Hare – Des Plaines to our growing portfolio and this most recent opening demonstrates the brand’s continued momentum across North America.”

The Avid brand was unveiled in September 2017, and has been designed to operate under a franchise model, comprising new-build properties offering a minimum of three floors. Recent openings include Avid Hotel Detroit-Warren in February and Avid Hotel Ocala in April. There are over 150 hotels in the pipeline, including the brand’s debut in Canada expected later this year in Vaughan, Ontario.
