Cathay Pacific has reopened its lounge at Heathrow airport’s Terminal 3 following the closure due to the pandemic.

This comes despite the airline’s plans to operate a skeleton passenger flight schedule in January, following changes to quarantine rules for crew members by Hong Kong authorities.

As it stands, all flights from the UK into Hong Kong have been suspended until January 21.

The lounge located near Gate 11 is open from 0530 until 2200 to first and business class passengers, and members of the Marco Polo Club. The carrier also has an agreement in place with Finnair, as well as American Airlines which allows Admirals Club lounge members travelling on a Oneworld carrier to access the lounge.

The lounge has amenities such as an à la carte dining, a noodle bar offering the carrier’s Dan Dan noodle recipe, grab-and-go offerings, and a wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The lounge also includes shower facilities, luggage storage and wifi.

A spokesperson at Cathay Pacific told Business Traveller:

“We invite everyone to check the latest developments on our website as the situation changes very quickly.”

Cathay Pacific has been particularly badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, with Hong Kong’s strict rules on quarantining decimating demand.

Earlier this month the carrier published traffic figures for November, showing a 97.3 per cent fall in passenger numbers compared to November 2019.
