Serviced residence and hotel operator Ascott is bringing its Lyf co-living brand to Europe, with a property set to open in Paris in 2024.

Lyf launched in 2016, and opened its first property in Singapore in 2019. Pronounced “Life” and standing for “Live your freedom”, the brand is targeting “next-generation travellers”, offering a community-based experience with managers known as “Lyf Guards”.

Lyf Gambetta Paris will be located in a former printing house in the city’s 20th arrondissement, a five-minute walk to Gambetta Metro station and a 25-minute drive from Paris CDG airport.

It will feature 139 units comprising double rooms, twin rooms, studios with kitchens, and paired rooms with private bathrooms and a common kitchen.

The property has been designed by interior architect Fabien Roque, and the building will undergo a major renovation and construction while still paying homage to its printing heritage. As such, Roque will reuse old posters and old signages from the printing house for the design of the new Lyf property.

Facilities will include a ‘Connect’ co-working space, a gym and a bar. Guests can also prepare meals and take cooking classes at the ‘Bond’ communal kitchen.

Residents will be able to access their rooms via a mobile key within the Discover ASR app. The app can also be used for check-in and check-out, contactless payments, and to communicate with other guests and Lyf Guards.

Commenting on the development of Lyf Gambetta Paris, Ngor Houai Lee, Ascott’s Managing Director for Europe said:

“The signing of the first lyf residence in Paris marks a key milestone in the development of our brand dedicated to coliving in Europe. We see strong potential for expansion in cities with a growing community of startups like Paris. lyf Gambetta Paris will offer travellers a new dynamic living, working and leisure experience where they can connect and enjoy private and collaborative spaces.”

The Lyf portfolio has five properties in Singapore, Bangkok, Fukuoka and Hangzhou (pictured), and recently announced plans to expand to 17 properties by 2025.
