Marriott has announced plans to open a new hotel under its Tribute Portfolio brand in Washington DC.

The Ven at Embassy Row, Washington DC, will open in January 2021, located in the city’s well-known Dupont Circle area.

The property will comprise 231 rooms and suites overlooking Embassy Row’s stately mansions, and will draw inspiration for its minimalist design from the Danish and Norwegian concept of hygge (which translates to “wellbeing”).

Public spaces will feature arched passageways, bespoke furnishings, and a colour palette with “pops of pink and blue [and] blonde wood tones”. The hotel’s Gallery level will feature rotating art displays, and there will also be a Northern Lights-inspired digital light installation and guided meditation four times per day.

The lobby area will feature floor-to-ceiling windows looking onto Massachusetts Avenue, while a soundtrack curated by Soundry Music will play in the background.

The on-site gift shop The Exchange will sell items from local producers and companies with ethically sourced goods, with the hotel also partnering with local company Valley Brook Tea to offer an on-demand tea ceremony. There will also be three flexible meeting spaces with capacity for 25 people.

The Ven will add more facilities in spring 2021, including a rooftop pool and bar with weekend yoga classes, and restaurant Fred and Stilla. The hotel will also provide breakfast products from Nordic food supplier Mikko.

Jennifer Goodman, General Manager of The Ven at Embassy Row, commented:

“We are thrilled to start welcoming guests to The Ven in January and are excited to be a part of the Tribute Portfolio. The hotel features various elements and experiences that will make it the perfect destination for both locals and those visiting the city.”

Marriott operates over 40 properties under the Tribute Portfolio brand.
