Wyndham Grand will open its first property in Australia in 2024, located in Adelaide.

The Wyndham Grand Adelaide will be one of the tallest hotels in South Australia, situated within a 34-storey skyscraper in the city’s Central Business District. The $150 million tower is being developed by Equinox Property, with architecture by Loucas Zahos Architects.

The hotel will comprise 374 contemporary rooms and suites featuring green walls, marble fixtures and plush furnishings, along with floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of the skyline and surrounding area.

Facilities will include an infinity pool with a sun deck and bar promising panoramic city views, a day spa with sauna and treatment rooms, and a fitness centre. Dining venues will comprise an upscale restaurant, a wine bar, a hills-facing sky bar with outdoor seating, and a rooftop restaurant.

Joon Aun Ooi, president, Asia Pacific, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, commented:

“The South Australian capital has been experiencing a surge of investment, with new infrastructure projects such as the expansion of Adelaide Airport, the revamp of the Adelaide Oval, and now, the creation of one of the city’s tallest hotels.

“We are excited to be part of this prestigious project. Wyndham Grand is known for its iconic locations, so I can think of no better way to introduce the brand to Australia.”

Wyndham Grand Adelaide will be managed by Resort Management by Wyndham Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Wyndham Destinations, which manages 54 properties across the Asia Pacific.

Commenting on the announcement, Warren Cullum, senior vice president, Operations at Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific, said:

“Our depth of hotel management experience, knowledge and capability make us the ideal partner for Wyndham Hotels & Resorts as it launches its upper-upscale Wyndham Grand brand in Australia.

“This new hotel will represent the pinnacle of hospitality available in Adelaide and we are proud to have the opportunity to provide an incomparable experience to guests and showcase Adelaide to the world.”

Meanwhile, Accor has signed an agreement to bring the Mondrian brand to Australia, with both a hotel and residential apartments set to open in 2023 on the Gold Coast.

Wyndham Hotels and Resorts operates 9,000 properties across 80 countries. The Wyndham Grand Adelaide will join the group’s 30 hotels and resorts in Australia, and its 50 Wyndham Grand properties worldwide.
