Marriott International has opened a new hotel in Shanghai, marking the company’s seventh Marriott property in the Chinese city.

Shanghai Marriott Hotel Pudong South features 241 guest rooms. Marriott says the 33 Premier Rooms and six Executive Rooms offer expansive views of the city landscape with large windows on two sides. Each room offers workspaces with amenities such as high-speed Wi-Fi and HDTV.

Family rooms feature child-friendly amenities including bathrobes, rocking chairs, toys, colouring boards, mini tents, cartoon-themed bedding, stickers, and bath amenities for kids.

Guests can also enjoy extra convenience and flexibility with mobile check-in and check-out with their cellphones as room keys.

The hotel features three dining venues and a lobby lounge. All-day restaurant Goji Kitchen Bar serves an à la carte menu and a sumptuous buffet featuring live cooking stations, seafood and a range of western and Asian dishes; Man Ho Chinese Restaurant offers a Cantonese culinary experience with a touch of Shanghai influence with seven private dining rooms.

Smoki Moto, a specialty East Asian restaurant features  Korean barbecue and gourmet sushi; while The Greatroom, which is Marriott Hotels’ lobby lounge concept, provides a gathering spot for business and leisure meetings with desserts, pastries and light fare during the day, and transforms into a bar in the evenings.

The hotel’s Executive Lounge, a space reserved for guest who stay on executive floor as well as Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite members, provides complimentary breakfast, check in/out service, hors d’oeuvres and premium beverages. The lounge is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

For events and meetings, the property has two ballrooms and four flexible function rooms spanning a total of 2,650 square-meters. The pillarless 800-square-meter grand ballroom and 400-square-meter junior ballroom offer spaces for large conferences and “lavish gatherings”, while the six different function rooms can host business events and private parties, as well as  weddings, according to Marriott.

There’s also fitness and wellness facilities including an indoor heated swimming pool, whirlpool, sauna room, and 24-hour fitness center.

The company says the hotel is a 25-minute drive from Shanghai Pudong International Airport, while downtown Shanghai and Xinchang Ancient Town are both within 30-minute drives.
