Pestana Hotel Group has announced plans to open a Manchester property under its CR7 brand.
The lifestyle brand is a partnership between ex Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo and Pestana Hotel Group.
The brand was launched in 2015, and currently operates properties in Funchal and Lisbon, with forthcoming hotels also planned for Madrid, New York City, Marrakesh and Paris.
The 151-room Pestana CR7 Manchester is set to open in 2023 opposite the city’s Piccadilly Gardens.
Pestana said that the hotel “couldn’t be more appropriate – after all, this is the city where Cristiano Ronaldo started his international career with Manchester United back in 2003 and where he first used [the] number 7”.
The majority of Pestana’s properties are located in Portugal, with international locations including London (Pestana Chelsea Bridge), Amsterdam, Berlin, Casablanca, Madrid, Barcelona, Sao Paulo, Rio, New York, Miami, Caracas and Buenos Aires.
