NH Hotel Group has announced plans to bring its flagship brand to the top of St Pauli bunker in the German city of Hamburg.
Set to open in 2021 as the Madrid-based group’s third hotel in Germany, the Nhow Hamburg will have 136 rooms, a bar, cafe and a restaurant.
Five stories will be added to the roof of the hochbunker (“high bunker”) in the shape of a pyramid, with a rooftop garden outside of all floors.
Inside should provide panoramic views of the city, while a “green walkway” will lead up to the hotel around the exterior.

The former World War II anti-aircraft bunker currently hosts night clubs, a large music store and office space for artists and musicians.
According to the Hamburg tourism board, the building was constructed in 1942 to accommodate 18,000 people. Its walls are 3.5 metres thick.
Nhow hotels are set to opon in London, Amsterdam and Brussels in 2020.
This week the group announced the opening of two properties under its luxury NH Collection brand, in Munich and Antwerp.
