Wyndham Hotels and Resorts has begun a partnership with Denmark’s Comwell Hotels that will see it open its first properties in the country.

It is set to open hotels in Copenhagen and Aarhus, dual-branded under Comwell Hotels and Wyndham’s business travel-oriented Dolce Hotels and Resorts.

The 484-room Comwell Copenhagen Portside, Dolce by Wyndham will be a new-build property in Nordhavn district and is scheduled to open in 2021.

Design will be inspired by Copenhagen’s historical warehouses and it will have 17 conference rooms, a restaurant, bar and two green atriums.

The 240-room Comwell Aarhus, Dolce by Wyndham will launch in central Aarhus after a re-flagging of the existing Comwell property. Danish design company Hay will revamp the interiors.

Wyndham said both properties would have “state of the art” meeting spaces.

The companies noted that the partnership did not change the ownership of Comwell Hotels.

US-based Wyndham says it is the world’s largest hotel franchising company, with 9,200 hotels across 80 countries

Peter Schelde, CEO of Comwell Hotels, commented:

“We are delighted to have found in Wyndham Hotels and Resorts a like-minded partner which shares our values and aspiration, and are looking forward to opening our first and largest new built hotel in Copenhagen together.

“The demand for quality accommodation and conference and meeting space is continuing to grow in Denmark, and working with one of the largest hotel companies in the world will enable us to further cement our position in the market and attract more international guests.”

Dimitris Manikis, President of Wyndham, said:

“With charming architecture and design, an imaginative culinary scene and a welcoming population, it is no surprise that Denmark is increasingly attracting more international visitors.

“The country has positioned itself as a growing hub for conferences and business events and we are thrilled to enter this attractive market with Comwell Hotels.

“Their solid expertise in the meetings, incentives, conferencing, exhibitions segment, and reputation for managing hotels to an exceptional standard makes them a strong match for our Dolce by Wyndham brand and a perfect partner to launch the brand in Scandinavia.”
