Cathay Pacific has launched a partnership with Airportr, allowing customers to check in luggage at any central London address, ahead of departures from Gatwick and Heathrow.

The service costs from £30 for collection and check-in of one piece of baggage with a one-hour slot, and from £40 for four pieces with a three-hour slot.

Airportr launched with British Airways in 2016, and is available to all BA customers flying from Gatwick and Heathrow. It was subsequently extended to fellow Oneworld carrier American Airlines flights from Heathrow to the US, followed by Finnair services from Heathrow this summer, and most recently Easyjet flights from Gatwick (and subsequently Luton) .

A driver collects and weighs the luggage, scans passengers’ passports and boarding passes, and seals the luggage in coded, tamper-proof bags. Customers are sent IATA bag receipts after airport screening, around 90 minutes before take-off.

Commenting on the news Randel Darby, CEO of Airportr said:

“Airportr is already very popular with customers traveling to Hong Kong and beyond. Cathay Pacific has more direct flights on this route from London than any other, and a product which is consistently ranked as one of the best in the world.

“Bag pick-up and check-in service will enhance that customer experience even further for this key market, and we’re confident it will be well received by Cathay’s customers.”

Airportr says that it has delivered over 80,000 bags, skis and bikes to more than 320 destinations airport baggage reclaims worldwide since the launch of the service.
