Wizz Air has announced a raft of new routes from Liverpool and Luton airports for this winter.

The Hungarian low-cost carrier will operate daily flights between Luton and Lisbon from October 28, as well as a thrice weekly (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) service from the London airport to Kharkiv in Ukraine, starting November 13.

Easyjet currently offers flights between Luton and Lisbon, while Wizz Air will be the only carrier to offer direct, nonstop flights to Ukraine’s second largest city of Kharkiv.

The basing of a ninth Airbus A321 at Luton will also see the carrier increase frequencies to Pristina in Kosovo (from three to five flights per week), Tirana in Albania (from three to four flights per week), and to Satu Mare in Romania (from two to three flights per week).

Meanwhile Wizz Air has also announced new routes from Liverpool John Lennon airport to the Romanian cities of Bucharest, Cluj and Iasi.

The new services will launch at the end of October, with thrice weekly flights to Bucharest operating on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and twice weekly services to Cluj and Iasi both operating on Monday and Friday.

The new routes add to existing Wizz Air services from Liverpool to Budapest, Gdansk, Katowice and Warsaw.
