Hyatt has announced plans for its first hotel in Ireland, with a Hyatt Centric property to open in the capital Dublin.

The hotel will be located in The Liberties area of the city, and is expected to open in May 2019, under a franchise agreement with Realmside Ltd, an affiliate of Irish hotel and property company Hodson Bay Group.

Details are limited at present, but the 234-room property will feature “a state-of-the-art gym and social spaces from which guests will enjoy a wide range of restaurant, bar, café and lounge options, in addition to an expansive conference space for external events”.

The group said the hotel would also offer “large windows allowing for an immediate view of the bustling Dublin community outside”.

Marriott is also due to open an Aloft property in The Liberties area later this year.

Hyatt Centric was launched in 2015, and the Dublin property will be the fifth hotel under the lifestyle brand in Europe, joining existing properties in France, Spain and Turkey.

Commenting on the news John O’Sullivan, Chairman of Hodson Bay Group said:

“We are excited to bring the first Hyatt Centric hotel to Ireland. The Liberties has been inhabited more than 1,000 years and is the oldest part of Dublin, which is currently experiencing a complete regeneration as part of Dublin City Council’s plans to create a launch pad to explore the culture and heritage of the city.”
