Etihad Airways has switched operations to Terminal 1 at Frankfurt airport, with its lounges at Terminal 2 closing in the process.

The carrier said that the move was part of its new partnership with Lufthansa which includes a US $100 million global catering agreement and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate in aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul.

The move took effect on March 26, and incorporates “all Etihad operations in Frankfurt including check-in and boarding”.

Eligible Etihad Guest members and first / business class passengers can now use Lufthansa’s Senator and business class lounges in Terminal 1.

The growing partnership between Etihad and Lufthansa started in December last year, when the carriers announced plans to codeshare on selected routes departing Abu Dhabi and Frankfurt.
