Qatar Airways recently flew its inaugural flight to the Turkish city of Trabzon from Doha.

The nonstop seasonal service is being operated by the carrier’s Airbus A320 aircraft thrice a week on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

The airline will service Trabzon throughout the summer season until August 22, 2023.

QR319 will depart Hamad International airport (DOH) at 8.25am and land at Trabzon airport (TZX) at 11.50am.

QR320 will then depart the Turkish city at 1.20pm and land back in Doha at 4.35pm.

The route represents the seventh destination that the airline flies to in Türkiye. The other destinations within the country that it operates to includes Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Bodrum, Istanbul, and Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen.

On Friday, June 16, QR319, was welcomed at Trabzon with a water cannon salute upon landing.

Special celebrations were organised within the flight’s premium and economy cabins, where passengers were presented with special Turkish desserts, and a bespoke menu in addition to giveaways representing Turkish culture.

Qatar Airways group chief executive, Akbar Al Baker, said, “Trabzon is an exciting and important new route for Qatar Airways, which solidifies our strong commitment to Türkiye and delivers on the high demand for connectivity between Doha and Trabzon. Reaffirming our commitment to the strong partnership between Qatar and Türkiye, Qatar Airways’ network in Türkiye has expanded to 58 weekly flights during the peak summer season.”

Qatar Airways had said previously that it would fly to seven new destinations this year, resume services to 11 more and increase frequencies to 35 points across its network.

It has also confirmed its participation at this year’s 54th Edition of the Paris Air Show which will take place from Monday, June 19 until Sunday, June 25. Qatar’s national carrier will showcase three aircraft: an Airbus A350-1000, a Gulfstream G700 and an Airbus 319 Corporate Jet.
