Qatar Airways has placed an order for 40 Boeing B787 and B777 aircraft, along with a Letter of Intent for up to 60 B737 Max 8s.
The order breaks down as 30 B787-9s and ten B777-300ERs, valued at $11.7 billion at list prices.
The carrier currently operates 84 Boeing B787 and B777 aircraft, and has 60 of the manufacturer’s next-generation B777X aircraft on order.
The B777X is being developed in two variants – the B777-8 and the B777-9 – and is intended to compete with Airbus’ A350 series.
The commitment to order up to 60 B737 Max 8 aircraft would represent the first Boeing single-aisle aircraft to enter Qatar’s fleet in over 15 years.
