American Airlines has rolled out its Business ExtrAA programme to UK businesses, a scheme enabling companies to earn upgrades and free flights with the airline.
Aimed at small and medium enterprises (SMEs) which do not already have a corporate agreement with the airline, the complimentary scheme allows companies to earn two points for every US£10 of eligible flown revenue on American Airlines, American Eagle or American Connection flights.
These points can then be redeemed by the company for employee lounge passes and AAdvantage status upgrades (eg: 300 points for an Admirals Club day pass or 3,000 points for a one-year membership), upgrades (for example 3,100 points for an upgrade on a discounted fare between Europe and North America), and award flights (from 7,200 points for a business class flight between Europe and North America).
The Business ExtrAA programme sits alongside the carrier’s AAdvantage frequent flyer scheme, meaning that individual employees can continue to earn miles while the company also benefits.
Accrued points within the Business ExtrAA scheme are valid for “at least two full calendar years”, and travel details and account status can be viewed online, with a monthly update being sent out to the account holder.
