Snow over the weekend on the East Coast of the US has caused immense havoc to the extent that over 1000 BA passengers from flights BA 264, BA 292 and BA 216 have been stranded in Washington alone. The response from BA has been pretty appalling with a distinct lack of communication or coordination with chaos reigning at the airport and contradiction between the BA helplines in the UK and the US. You would think that after many years of operation they would be better organised. Its only snow.....
Snow in the UK and the US is the root cause of the delays but you would think having supplied an email address and a mobile phone number as part of the booking process you would receive regular updates and consistent communication from the airline but no nothing. No one from the airline has been proactive in advising passengers on what to do. And evern after waiting on hold for 45 minutes to get through to BA on the phone the advice is pretty worthless.
Families with very young children were left to battle in the freezing snow last night for up to an hour to try and board hotel courtesy buses following the cancelation of the rebooked Friday night flights; being transferred to hotels which were already overbooked. Again there was no clear communication between BA, the hotels and the passengers effected.
The word from BA this morning on being told that my hotel was full and I could not have my room for another night: "well you will just have to join the other passengers sleeping on the floor of the terminal tonight....." Not exactly constructive feedback.
