Kingfisher Airlines is set to fly between London Heathrow (LHR) and Mumbai (BOM) from January 5, with a new A330-200.
Kingfisher (airline code IT) will fly non-stop daily on this highly competitive route. IT007 will depart BOM at 1350 to arrive LHR at 1755. IT008 will depart LHR at 2030 to reach BOM the next morning at 1100.
Jet Airways, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic also fly BOM-LHR direct. All four airlines will have flights departing Mumbai and Heathrow within a one-hour time span.
Dr. Vijay Mallya, Chairman and CEO, Kingfisher Airlines Limited commented on the launch: “Given the strong linkages between India and the United Kingdom, we believe that there is untapped potential and this new route promises to serve the unmet needs of discerning corporate and leisure flyers to these destinations.”
The launch of the new route marks the second international route for Kingfisher, after Bangalore-London was launched on September 3. (For a review click here.)
More international routes may follow, after the Government of India recently granted Kingfisher Airlines the rights and approval to operate several flights: Mumbai-Hong Kong, Mumbai-Singapore, Chennai-Colombo, Bangalore-Colombo, Kolkata-Dhaka, Kolkata-Chittagong, Bangalore-Bangkok and Mumbai-Bangkok.
