Finnair is now offering a comprehensive range of services via a new mobile web portal, including online check-in and the ability to edit bookings.
Unlike an app, the Finnair portal (m.finnair.com) works via a browser making it compatible with a greater variety of devices (3,000 according to Finnair). The portal isn’t limited to iPhone, Blackberry or Android, but it does rely entirely on a working internet connection.
Menu options within the portal will take users to check-in, flight information and booking screens, all configured for viewing on a smartphone or other internet-ready mobile device.
The portal also has information sections catering for business travellers and members of its Finnair Plus frequent flyer programme, plus guides to 50 destinations including Seoul, Hong Kong, Delhi and Singapore (commencing May 2011).
As all the information is accessed via the internet rather than downloaded as with apps offering similar functionality, use of the portal abroad could incur mobile roaming fees depending on the user’s tariff.
The service is available in 14 languages and in 36 countries.
