Easyjet goes flexible

16 Nov 2010 by BusinessTraveller

Easyjet is renewing its focus on business travellers by offering them the benefit of flexible travel arrangements.

Passengers will be able to make unlimited changes within a four-week time window – one week before and up to three weeks after the original booked travel date.

The new fares are expected to be available across the entire network but they will not be on sale until the end of this month.

Details of prices are not yet available but in the early days flexible tickets will be bookable only through travel agents’ GDS systems.

Flexible fares will not be offered to general travellers for online booking through easyjet.com before next year.

The arrangement might be familiar. It was offered in the past albeit by another budget carrier and one which became part of Easyjet.

Readers with long memories will recall that Stansted-based Go (a budget airline rival taken over by Easyjet in 2003) used to offer a similar fare in its heyday and one which proved to be popular with our readers. When Easyjet assumed control of Go it ditched the latter’s tariff policy.

Go’s flexible fare was priced a good deal below the then flexible economy class tickets sold by Europe’s big national carriers. And Easyjet is expected to price its flexible ticket in similar fashion.

Further benefits offered by Easyjet to passengers include free priority boarding (normally £6), no booking fee (normally £4.95) and one piece of checked baggage (normally £9).
