City Inn increases speed of free internet access

UK hotel group City Inn has bolstered the free internet connection at its six properties, which it says will allow guests to “experience similar quality and speed of internet access they would expect in their work place”.
City Inn is one of the few UK brands to offer free wifi internet connection across its portfolio, as well as iMac computers in all of its rooms. From the start of March the group will introduce a dedicated 100Mbps (mega bits per second) bandwidth connection across its six hotels in Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester and London Westminster.
City Inn says that “unlike many broadband services which are shared/contended, the City Inn access will be via a dedicated line which is exclusive to the hotel group, thereby ensuring the bandwidth is always available”. It gives an example of the download speed at its Westminster property, which has gone from two and half minutes to download a 10MB file, to “as little as 20-30 seconds”.

It's good to see hotels recognising the need for high quality internet connections as staying in touch now often demands high quality connections for skype/video conference needs.
It's worth paying for these premium services, regular slow net access for £15+ per session is too often prevalent in many hotels and this will be marginalised as internet "dongles" replace the need for such services, in the same way mobile phone have usurped the need to use hotel telephones to stay in touch.
