Carlson Hotels Worldwide has announced plans to open its first properties in Lhasa and the Maldives.
To be launched this December, The Regent Maldives will feature 23 beachfront and 27 over-water villas in Thaa Atoll. Acclaimed interior designer Hirsch Bedner Associates is behind the look of the resort.
Guests will have direct beach access from their villas, private plunge pools and expansive wooden decks with ocean views. Other facilities include a spa, over-water yoga pavilion, glass-walled gym overlooking the lagoon, three restaurants and an over-water bar and poolside lounge, 52m infinity-edge lagoon swimming pool, library and lounge with business facilities.
In the capital of Tibet Autonomous Region, Park Plaza Lhasa City Centre is scheduled to open in 2010. The 87-room hotel will be built in an “ancient Tibetan style”. At an altitude of 3,650m, its facilities include a business centre and meeting and banquet rooms.
“This hotel marks a significant milestone for the Park Plaza brand, which continues to establish itself in key destinations across Asia. This agreement is also part of our strategic plan to enter more regional markets over the next three years,” said Jean-Marc Busato, managing director – Asia Pacific, Carlson Hotels Worldwide.
