Located on the 12th floor of the luxurious The St. Regis Osaka hotel, La Veduta is a grill and all-day dining restaurant offering the best of Italian flavours in Japan. At the restaurant, one can choose to indulge in the large buffet breakfast, the light menu lunch or an à la carte menu for dinner, in addition to a wide variety of wines.

The decor of La Veduta is quite elegant — there is an artwork set against a rich chocolate brown, large window, gorgeous chandeliers, mood lights and a gleaming wood floor.

I really enjoyed the dinner from a menu that featured seafood delights such as the Hokkaido scallops served with beetroot sabayon, savoy cabbage and Parma ham and homemade pappardelle served with lobster, porcini mushroom and delicious tomato confit. My top pick, however, was the lamb milanese filled with marinated burdock and puree, mint reduction, which is a must-try when visiting La Veduta. Beef lovers can call for Kobe beef sirloin (tagliata style) that comes with Porcini mushroom salad, aged balsamic vinegar and walnuts. For dessert, I chose to indulge in sweet treats such as citrus macaron, and mascarpone cream served with Savoiardi, coffee, nuts crumble and herbs.

VERDICT A preferred spot for those looking for Italian fare.
