Background

The ultimate in luxury and grandeur, The London Edition embodies boutique sophistication, opulence and quiet confidence that is the benchmark of Ian Schrager’s philosophy.

What’s it like?

The London Edition is a spectacular and trendy business hotel that was redesigned by Studio 54 founder and boutique hotelier Ian Schrager, with the New York architecture firm Yabu Pushelberg. It is the perfect combination of heritage and contemporary design which magnifies the history of the building’s aesthetics and lends the comforting opulence of a world-class hotel.

Where is it?

The London Edition is in a historic building on the outskirts of Soho, and a short distance from the iconic and upscale addresses of Mayfair and Covent Garden.

Rooms

173 luxurious rooms, including 9 suites are elevated and refined sanctuaries with stylish yet decadent simplicity. Oak floors and wood-panelled walls surround the rooms in warmth, while distinct designs make guests feel at home. I stayed in the plush, 33 sqm Loft King Bedroom with a living area, sofa, soundproof windows, comfortable bed and pillows, a convenient workstation, complimentary internet as well as a host of other amenities and services.

Food and Drink

Guests can indulge in grand dining experiences of the finest cuisine and beverages in eclectic and breathtaking settings at Berners Tavern, Lobby Bar, and the Punch Room – from a classic English breakfast, a power lunch, light bites and creative cocktails or a four-course dinner. I ate a hearty breakfast at Berners Tavern and indulged in an apple, celery, and ginger juice, two fried eggs sunny side up with Pumper Nickel whole wheat cereal bread and an oatmeal porridge with fresh berries.

Meetings

From board meetings to intimate weddings, events become memorable at flexible gathering spaces reflecting sophisticated aesthetics and are fitted with state-of-the-art equipment as well as catering menus designed by Michelin-starred Chef Jason Atherton.

Leisure

Guests can pursue their fitness regimes at the modern gym with top-notch workout equipment.

Verdict

A highly refined haven for discerning guests, it was one of the best business hotels that I have stayed in, in recent times – unparalleled luxury, exemplary service and matchless amenities made my stay here unforgettable!
