Background

Officially opened in June 2019, Mövenpick BDMS Wellness Resort Bangkok is Accor hotel’s third Mövenpick property in Bangkok. In Thailand, the brand operates in key destinations including Phuket, Pattaya, Chiang Mai and Hua Hin. Currently, Mövenpick hotels and resorts are present in over 20 countries.

What’s It Like?

Mövenpick BDMS Wellness Resort Bangkok gives out a unique resort feel. With a strong focus on wellness, the décor has a very serene vibe with earthy elements, inspired from Thai and Japanese culture. However, what struck me most was the grandeur of the lobby that houses a reception area, a bar and a dedicated sitting area accentuated by stunning artworks on the wall.

Where Is It?

The hotel is an hour’s drive from the New Bangkok International Airport (Suvarnabhumi) and a short 10-minute walk to Ploenchit BTS Skytrain station.

Rooms

I stayed in the Deluxe King room that is done in earthy palettes, which creates a relaxing atmosphere. The room has a separate living room and a bedroom, both come with a balcony overlooking a nearby canal. My morning coffee ritual was taken care of by the Nespresso machine. The in-room dining service is available round the clock. The room also has a well-stocked mini-bar, a bathtub and separated shower complemented by Elemis amenities. Each of the 293 guestrooms and suites come with high-end tech amenities that are vital for a business traveller like me. Also, the hotel’s brand of responsible luxury and eco-friendly initiatives are evident throughout my room. Plastic bottles are replaced by the hotel’s own glass bottles.

Food and Drink

Its food and beverage options include Tamarind, an all-day dining restaurant offering an elaborate international buffet of healthy western and Asian dishes. The restaurant makes sure that even on your holiday or work trip, you can keep a count of your calorie intake. (Do check the useful notes stating the calories of the dishes that you are choosing). The Thai-western breakfast includes fresh fruits and juices, farm-picked vegetables, baked goods, eggs and other live cooking stations.

The Rim Klong Cafe is perfect for gluten-free Swiss chocolates that go well with freshly-brewed coffee, healthy mocktails, tea-infusions and nutritious boosters. Additionally, if you are looking to unwind, Cinnamon Lobby Bar is a go-to place for a sundowner.

Meetings

For weddings, corporate events and team-building activities, the hotel boasts 2,000 sqm of indoor function venues that include a grand ballroom and six multi-functional meeting rooms.

Leisure

This wellness resort features a picturesque outdoor garden and pool areas that serve as the perfect setting to enjoy evening cocktails or the ideal spot to relax and unwind. The resort is directly connected to BDMS Wellness Clinic that is known for holistic treatments and health programmes.

Verdict

The hotel perfectly resonates with Thailand’s position of being a wellness hub.
