Swissotel Hotels and Resorts has opened its third property in China, the Swissotel Grand Shanghai.
The 467-room property is a 50-minute drive from Pudong airport and a 20-minute drive from Hongqiao airport. Located in the Jing’An quarter of the city, it is within easy reach of the shopping district on Nanjing West Road, Plaza 66 and Citic Square, the Jin’An temple, the Shanghai Grand theatre and the Shanghai museum.
The five-star deluxe hotel, described as offering “Swiss hospitality with a Chinese touch”, features executive floors, a Club lounge, a business centre, four restaurants and bars, a spa, swimming pool, and conference facilities – including a 575-sqm ballroom with state-of-the-art technology and wifi internet access.
Meinhard Huck, president of Swissotel, says: “China is an extremely important market for us and is enjoying steady growth. We have successfully operated a hotel at the centre of Beijing for many years, and are now delighted to be able to offer our guests Swiss hospitality of the highest standard in the metropolis of Shanghai.”
The opening precedes the launch of a new Swissotel property in Foshan in Guandong, which will open in a few weeks. In other news, the 235-room Swissotel Dresden has been added to the company’s portfolio of properties, and is expected to open in early 2010.
