Additional flights will be added to Pune’s international network in the next three months.

The airport’s director Ajay Kumar is negotiating with airlines. He says, ”We currently have four international flights from the city — Frankfurt, Abu Dhabi and two for Dubai. As there is an increase in international passengers, since the last few years, there is also a demand for new destinations.”

The plan is to allow flights to Pune from the Gulf and South-East Asian countries including Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

About 15,000 passengers fly on 65 flights everyday from Pune. Currently, the city’s airport connects to three international destinations daily – Frankfurt, Abu Dhabi and two flights to Dubai. Passengers from Pune drive to Mumbai to catch  international flights to other cities.
