United Airlines has revealed plans to launch a seasonal non-stop service between San Francisco and Xian starting from May next year.
The Star Alliance member already operates flights to more cities in the mainland than any other US carrier, including Beijing, Shanghai and a thrice-weekly service to Chengdu.
A new service to Xian, the capital of Shaanxi province, will represent the carrier's second foray into China's second tier market.
Proposed flights will run three-times weekly and be operated by the carrier’s B787-8 Dreamliner.
United outfits its B787-8 with a two-class configuration, featuring 36 seats in business and 183 in economy, with 70 of those being Economy Plus seats that offer superior seat pitch and recline.
Subject to regulatory approval, the US carrier is looking to commence service from May 10 to October 29 next year.
