Emirates will launch a second daily service to Lisbon on January 1, 2016.
The Gulf carrier attributed the decision to strong demand, and has timed the second flight to maximise the number of connections it receives through its hub in Dubai.
“The additional service will provide customers in Africa, the Far East and Australasia, the Middle East and West Asia with even easier access to Lisbon, supporting the burgeoning business and leisure traffic between these markets and Portugal,” said Hubert Frach, Emirates’ divisional senior vice president commercial operations west.
The new flight will be operated by a B777-300ER and offer a three-class configuration, with eight suites in first, 42 seats in business, and 310 in economy.
Flight EK193 will depart Dubai at 1440 daily and arrive in Lisbon at 1920. The return service, EK194 will then take off again from Lisbon at 2100 and touch back down in Dubai at 0845 the following day.
