Qantas integrates PressReader into app

29 May 2015 by Clement Huang

Qantas customers now have access to over 4,000 titles when they travel with the carrier via the world’s largest digital newspaper and magazine platform, PressReader.

According to the Flying Kangaroo, PressReader has been integrated directly into the Qantas app, which allows passengers to download, prior to their flight, publications in more than 60 languages from a range of local, regional and international titles across 100 countries.

“Many people use flights as a way to catch up with their reading, so this new service opens up a huge library of titles for people to choose from before they take off,” said Olivia Wirth, Qantas Group Executive, Brand, Marketing and Corporate Affairs.

“We built PressReader into the existing Qantas app to make it easier for customers to manage all parts of the journey through the one application.”

To use the feature:

1. Tap the “Download Newspapers and Magazines” icon on the Qantas Airways app trip timeline.

2. Open the PressReader app directly within the Qantas app itself

3. Browse the different titles and download them ahead of the flight

Given that the service requires customers to input their trips onto the Qantas app beforehand, the “Download Newspapers and Magazines” will only appear on the timeline 24 hours prior to scheduled departure.

Once it appears, Qantas says customers have 12 hours of unlimited access to the PressReader catalogue. Downloaded content can then be viewed on any iOS or Android device.
