Qantas Airways is enhancing its economy class dining offering for customers travelling on flights between Hong Kong and Australia.
The new initiative will launch next week, in time for the peak Chinese New Year travel period, and will provide travellers with a wider choice of meals plus fifty per cent larger servings and faster service.
“The new menu offers more generous meals and an increase from two to four meal options,” said Kylie Morris, the airline’s international head of customer experience & creative development. “We also have new meal categories, including a healthy option, comfort food and a meal inspired by the route itself, such as stir fried pork with plum sauce and egg fried rice on our Hong Kong flights”.
For flights from Hong Kong to Australia, Qantas is offering the following three options this season:
- Roasted five spice duck salad with glass noodles and a soy and sesame dressing
- Pan-fried dory with dill cream sauce, mash potatoes, carrots and garden peas
- Chicken with black beans, fried rice and pak choy
In addition, Qantas has extended its “Select on Q Eat” service to economy passengers, meaning that those travelling in coach can now pre-order their meals online, and gain access to an exclusive fourth meal choice.
Finally, the return Australia–Hong Kong flights will offer Hokkien noodles and vegetable dumplings, Weis ice cream and fresh fruit as possible options. These will be on top of the welcome drink from Australian cordial supplier Bickford’s signature range, featuring flavours exclusive to Qantas such as lemon and elderflower, and pink grapefruit.
