Shangri-La Hotel, Nanchang opens for business

10 Feb 2015 by Clement Huang

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has opened a new property in the historic Nanchang city.

Shangri-La Hotel, Nanchang is located in Honggutan, the new central business district of the city, and boasts one of the most sought-after locations on the west bank of the Ganjiang River.

With direct views of the 1,300-year-old Tengwang Pavilion, the hotel is within walking distance from the popular Qiushui Square and a 30-minute drive from the train station and Changbei International Airport.

Drawing inspiration from Nanchang’s rich art scene, the interior style of Shangri-La Hotel features traditional Chinese ink paintings and blue and white porcelain. Also incorporated in the open spaces are lotus emblems to honour Zhu Da – the city’s most prominent calligrapher and painter from the Ming Dynasty – and a five-metre handcrafted chandelier inspired by the beauty of blooming flowers.

Deluxe Room

The hotel’s 473 guestrooms range from 45 to 149sqm in size, and feature cool silvery and beige tones to complement the Ganjiang River. Embellished with porcelain and patterns from traditional Chinese paintings on the carpet, the rooms are also practically equipped with in-room entertainment and free wifi.

As usual, the brand’s Horizon Club Lounge is available, and guests staying in Club rooms on five dedicated levels will be able to enjoy extra privileges, including express check-in and check-out, complimentary breakfast and evening cocktails, and full concierge service.

There are three dining outlets available. The all-day dining Café Hong features five open kitchens and serves buffets consisting of Asian, Chinese and Indian cuisine. Meanwhile, Zi Yu Xuan is a Chinese restaurant specialising in classic Cantonese and Gan cuisines, while the Lobby Lounge offers an informal space for meetings and get-togethers.

Recreational facilities include a multi-purpose gym, a 25-metre indoor pool Jacuzzi, steam and sauna room, a beauty salon and spa. A total of 3,880sqm of event space is also available, and these are capable of holding a maximum of 1,800 guests.

To commemorate the opening of Shangri-La Hotel, Nanchang, the hotel is offering special introductory rates starting at RMB550 (US$88) and RMB600 (US$96) – subject to 15 per cent service charge – for single and double occupancy at a Deluxe Room, along with breakfast buffet and Café Hong. The deal runs until July 31, 2015.
