Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has sealed a management deal with UNIR Hotels for a luxury operation in Perth.
The property involved is the 4.5-star Rydges Hotel located on Hay Street near Her Majesty's Theatre and the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre, and when it reemerges from a comprehensive refurbishment in early 2017, it will become a luxurious 240-room Intercontinental hotel. It will also become the sixth property in Australia under the five-star hotel brand, joining counterparts in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and the Gold Coast.
Given the new Intercontinental Perth's location, many of the hotel's facilities will cater for the business traveller. There will be executive function spaces that include a boardroom and several intimate meeting rooms, as well as a business centre. In-room technology and high-speed internet will allow guests to work from their own rooms, and those with club access can also do so at the executive lounge.
A bar-and-restaurant concept will pay homage to Western Australia's culinary culture.
IHG also operates Holiday Inn Perth City Centre on the same block, and Crowne Plaza Perth to the east near Langley Park.
