Qatar Airways (QR) has announced the third route for its new Airbus A380s. The superjumbo will be deployed to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport from January 2015.
Currently, the Gulf carrier uses the A380 on a single daily service for the Doha–London route, and will extend the use of the aircraft to Paris Charles De Gaulle by the end of the year. QR also intends to add an additional London A380 service by that time.
First class on the A380
With effect from January 5, 2015, the superjumbo will take over flights QR836 (Doha–Bangkok) and QR833 (Bangkok–Doha), currently served with the Boeing 777-300ER that offer 42 seats in business class, and 293 in economy.
The deployment of the A380 will bring a new eight-suite first class cabin to the route, as well as 128 seats in business class, and 461 in economy class. This represents a significant increase in capacity for the Bangkok route, which has so far also been devoid of QR’s most premium cabin.
Flight times will remain the same with QR836 departing Doha daily at 0155 and touching down in Bangkok at 1210. The return leg sees flight QR833 take off from Suvarnabhumi at 2045 and arrive back in Hamad International Airport at 2355 the same day.
