Air India brings the Dreamliner to Bangkok

15 Oct 2014 by Clement Huang

Indian state carrier Air India will send the B787 twice daily to Bangkok from October 14, replacing the much smaller Airbus 321.

Flight AI332 departs Delhi daily at 1325 to arrive in Bangkok at 1920. The Dreamliner then spends the night at Suvarnabhumi to return to Delhi as AI333 the next morning at 0850, with arrival in the Indian capital at 1205.

Flight AI330 departs Mumbai daily at 0135 to arrive in Bangkok at 0720. The Dreamliner then spends the day at Suvarnabhumi to return to Mumbai as AI331 in the evening at 2030, with arrival in Mumbai at 2305.

While the schedule makes little sense in terms of aircraft utilization (the aircraft spends more time on the ground than in the air), deploying the Dreamliner on the routes will represent a significant improvement in on-board comfort for passengers.

The Boeing 787-8 is a twin-aisle wide-body aircraft, the Airbus 321 a single-aisle. Seating in both the business and economy cabin is more comfortable on the Dreamliner, with full-flat beds upfront and larger seat pitch and PTVs in economy class.
