SIA and VA to allow points conversion across FFPs

24 Sep 2014 by Clement Huang

Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Virgin Australia (VA) have jointly introduced the world’s first loyalty programme conversion system.

Effective from November, members of SIA’s KrisFlyer and VA’s Velocity Frequent Flyer will be able to convert their points between both programmes, and receive a number of new benefits.

The new system, available exclusively to the two airline loyalty schemes, will give members access to upgrades and seat redemption across the two carriers’ combined domestic and international networks.

To mark the occasion, both SIA and VA will introduce an enhanced online booking system that will allow Velocity Frequent Flyer members to easily redeem flights on Singapore Airlines and SilkAir, and vice versa.

KrisFlyer members will also receive the following benefits:

  • Ability to redeem across all classes of travel on VA, including premium economy currently not offered by SIA
  • Status points accrual on domestic, Trans-Tasman and Pacific Islands codeshare flights operated by VA

Velocity Frequent Flyer members will also enjoy:

  • Reduction of Velocity Points required to redeem seats on Singapore Airlines; ability to accrue points on all fare classes when travelling with SIA or SilkAir
