Japan Airlines’ (JAL) first class passengers passing through Tokyo’s Haneda should check out the carrier’s revamped first class lounge.
Lounge entrance
The new facility follows similar updates to the airline’s Sakura lounges in March (see here).
A highlight of the new lounge is a teppan-yaki station offering freshly cooked steaks and skewers, but also specially made pancakes (available between 0700–1100), Black Berkshire pork, and Japanese black beef hamburger steak (both available between 1830–2330).
Sitting area
For those yearning for sushi, JAL has a sushi chef manning the station to conjure up some Nigirizushi (sushi shaped by hand).
Along with the usual fare of massage chairs and shower rooms available, another new offering is a shoeshine service – brought to you by JAL in collaboration with luxury shoemaker John Lobb. The service will take place in the Red Suite’s Library room, and is available between 0700–1200 and 1730–2330.
Library room
The Red Suite is a quiet corner in JAL’s new first class lounge, and features a library room that showcases a selection of travel and culture books, along with the shoeshine service. It is also home to a small private area called the Gallery room, and a play area that houses a chess set and foosball table.
Bar room
Finally, there is a bar that offers Laurent-Perrier champagne and select Japanese sake from Hasegawa Saketen, served in Riedel glassware.
