Hyatt Regency Incheon rebranded as Grand Hyatt

2 Sep 2014 by ReggieHo

Hyatt Regency Incheon has officially transformed into Grand Hyatt Incheon with the opening of its new West Tower, an occasion marked by a VIP party yesterday (pictured below).

Grand Hyatt Incheon has been rebranded from Hyatt Regency Incheon with a party on September 1, 2014

The rebranding project was announced in late July and the hotel's sign has already been changed for about two weeks, which has initially caused some confusion among travellers. But no longer – this airport hotel, owned by Hanjin Group, which is also the parent company of Korean Air, has completed the transition.

The new wing has not only added 522 units to the inventory and boasted the total number of rooms, suites and residences to 1,022 but also more meeting space, including the Grand Ballroom large enough for a 830-strong banquet. New food and beverage outlets include all-day restaurant Grand Cafe and all-day Swell Lounge. There is also another Grand Club facility and Club Olympus wellness centre in the new tower. The new swimming pool is also indoor, but the bigger glass doors can open out to the deck and create an outdoor feel.

The overall feel of the new tower is airier, with a very high ceiling, full-length glass walls and a lot of white marble. The 11-year-old East Tower will go into a multi-phase renovation project at the end of the year.

The hotel is the second Grand Hyatt to open in South Korea and the largest outside of North America, and it is gearing up for the 17th Asian Games set to open on September 19. Other than being close to the Incheon airport, the hotel is also in close proximity to Songdo International Business District and the Incheon Free Economic Zone.

Business Traveller Asia-Pacific has been invited to inspect the newly opened West Tower. Watch out for a "First look" this week.
