Grand Hyatt Taipei unveils revamped rooms

4 Jul 2014 by Clement Huang

The Grand Hyatt Taipei has completed the first phase of an extensive renovation of the property.

The hotel has unveiled 853 new rooms and suites featuring a design that aims to reflect Eastern and Western influences. The redevelopment of all 14 categories of rooms and suites has been Grand Hyatt Taipei’s most significant overhaul since it opened in 1990.

In the second phase, the hotel will reconstruct four of its nine dining outlets, its grand club facilities, the exterior area, as well as behind-the-scenes infrastructural systems, from air-conditioning to electricity.

The entire process is expected to be completed by the spring of 2015, in time to celebrate the property's 25th anniversary.

“This reservation is tantamount to a ground-up rebuild,” said Kai Speth, the hotel’s general manager. “Once the work is done, the hotel will have the unique distinction of becoming the oldest and the newest luxury hotel in Taipei.”

The newly designed units feature light-coloured timber for the bedroom/living area, and marble for the bathroom with a walk-in shower or tub.

Guestroom sizes range from 33sqm to 40sqm at the grand and deluxe level, while an executive suite starts at 83sqm. Meanwhile, the presidential suite commands more than 221sqm in space and offers a view of the iconic Taipei 101 Tower.

Business-friendly amenities in each room include a work desk, media hub that provides AV connections to a full-HD television, complimentary internet access and room service.

The Grand Suite

Guests staying at the executive rooms and suites can access the Grand Club Lounge on the 22nd floor for perks such as complimentary continental breakfast, all-day beverage services, evening cocktails and canapés, one hour complimentary use of meeting facilities, suit pressing, and high-speed internet.

Other Grand Hyatt properties in the Asia-Pacific region are also going through refurbishment, including those in Seoul, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, Tokyo, Shanghai, Beijing and Melbourne.
