The new seat designs of China Airline’s upcoming Boeing 777-300ER have been revealed.
Business class cabin
As previously reported by Business Traveller Asia-Pacific (see here), the B777-300ER will feature a three-class configuration with 40 in business, 62 in premium economy and 256 in economy.
Business class
The new lie-flat business class seat is arranged in a 1-2-1 layout, offering direct aisle access. It also offers an 18-inch touch screen monitor, USB and power outlets to charge mobile devices, plus multiple storage areas.
Sky Lounge
In addition, business class passengers will have access to a self-service minibar area known as the Sky Lounge. This space allows customers to socialise during the flight and offers a selection of alcoholic beverages as well as snacks and reading materials.
Premium economy
Meanwhile, the new premium economy offering has a fixed-back, whereby the seat slides forward in order to recline. The headrest is adjustable, as is the foot-rest. A 12.1-inch IFE monitor and personal reading light is also available for every seat.
Family Couch in economy
Finally, the economy cabin will contain 30 seats that offer the new “Family Couch” service (see here). Based on Air New Zealand’s much-lauded Skycouch offering, the Family Couch is essentially three adjacent seats with retractable armrests, and footrests that can come up to to a 90-degree angle, forming a single sofa bed.
Standard economy seats are configured in a 3-4-3 layout, and offer a seat pitch of 32 inches. Each seat also comes with an 11.1-inch monitor.
China Airlines expects to take delivery of its first B777-300ER this September, and will deploy it on the Taipei Taoyuan–Los Angeles route from December 2014 onwards. However, the airline will first deploy the aircraft on several short-haul services to Bangkok, Hong Kong and Ho Chi Minh City (until November 30) in order to faciliate crew familiarisation.
