Etihad Airways launched a daily non-stop service between Abu Dhabi and Zurich yesterday.
The inaugural flight was met with the customary water cannon welcome after it touched down on schedule at 0650 local time.
The Gulf carrier is deploying a three-cabin A330-300 on the route, with eight seats in first class, 32 in business and 191 in economy.
Outbound service EY073 takes off from Abu Dhabi at 0205 and lands in Zurich at 0650, while return flight EY074 departs Zurich at 1205 and arrives in Abu Dhabi at 2025 local time.
The new service is in addition to Etihad's existing daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Geneva and brings to 14 the number of weekly flights linking Zurich and Geneva to Abu Dhabi.
Etihad Regional was launched in Zurich earlier this year (see news, January 16).
