Hyatt Regency Tianjin East opens its doors

29 May 2014 by Clement Huang

Hyatt Regency Tianjin East has officially opened its doors.

The opening marks the return of the brand to the area 28 years after making history. Hyatt Regency became Tianjin’s first international hotel in 1986 and the first Hyatt property in China.

Rising 25 stories over Tianjin’s Hedong District, Hyatt Regency Tianjin East is part of a mixed-use development project and is located at Weiguo Road - a main road to the east of Tianjin.

The hotel is a 20-minute drive from the airport and 10 minutes from downtown Tianjin. It is also close to Line 2 of the metro station and 12 minutes from the Tianjin Railway Station, which offers regular high-speed train services across China. This includes the Tianjin–Beijing line, which connects the two cities in just 28 minutes.

Hyatt Regency Tianjin East offers 306 guestrooms including 21 suites. Rooms start at 43sqm (standard room) and go all the way up to 368sqm for the Chairman Suite.

Featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, that offer commanding views of the city and nearby parks, the guestrooms also provide semi-open marble bathrooms, 46-inch LED TVs and complimentary high-speed broadband and wifi. Regency suites, that start at 103sqm, have separate living and dining areas and offer espresso machines and moon bathtubs.

The Regency Club is split over the 20th to 25th floor, and guests staying here can gain access to the Regency Club Lounge on level 24. The lounge offers complimentary daily breakfasts, all-day refreshments and evening cocktails, a boardroom for meetings, and express check-in/out services.

There are three dining options available. Wok in the Garden serves Cantonese and northern Chinese cuisines including the famous Peking Duck, which is prepared in a traditional wood-fired oven. Along with the classic interior dining space, the Chinese restaurant also connects to an outdoor alfresco dining terrace that features a bar with live music and five private dining suites that seat up to 24 guests.

Market Café is the hotel’s all-day dining outlet offering a mix of Asian and international fare. The restaurant space features high ceilings and French windows that open onto an outdoor dining terrace. There is a Patisserie attached to Market Café that serves freshly-made pastries, country breads and desserts.

The lobby lounge is set against the backdrop of a four-level water wall and central fireplace. Guests can sample Chinese teas, fine wines and the daily high tea set here. A business centre is incorporated into the lounge, and offers connectivity plus a full range of business services.

For recreational purposes, there is a full-service spa that offers three massage rooms and six spa suites. Available treatments include body massage and facials that blend the use of skin products with traditional Chinese medicine ingredients and ancient qigong and tuina healing techniques.

A fitness centre is located at the base of the water wall and features a 25-metre indoor swimming pool, separate male and female hydrotherapy facilities and a gym equipped with cardio and strength machines.

Finally, Hyatt Regency Tianjin East offers more than 2,000sqm of flexible event and meeting spaces. The main attraction here is the 750sqm Regency Ballroom that can accommodate up to 420 guests in a banquet setting or 800 for cocktails. A 320sqm Ballroom foyer boasts a show kitchen and floor-to-ceiling windows that offer city views.
