Virgin Australia has partnered with Starwood Hotels and Resorts and added the hotel group’s loyalty programme, Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG), to its hotel portfolio.
Preferred Guest members are now able to transfer their points into Virgin’s Velocity Frequent Flyer points when they stay at any of Starwood’s 1,200 properties around the world. These include the following brands: St Regis, The Luxury Collection, W, Westin, Le Méridien, Sheraton, Four Points by Sheraton, Aloft and Element.
The conversion between Starpoints and Velocity points are at a 1:1 ratio. In addition, members will be entitled to 5,000 bonus Velocity points when they transfer 20,000 Starpoints or more in a single transaction.
Velocity Frequent Flyer now includes over 340 partnering brands – the widest range of any loyalty programme in Australia.
To celebrate the launch of the new partnership, Velocity Frequent Flyer members will receive a 5 per cent discount at any participating F&B outlets in Starwood properties in Australia. In addition, SPG members will earn 2,000 bonus points for bookings up to March 31 on all Starwood hotels in Asia-Pacific.
