The results from the 9th annual Business Traveller China (BTC) Reader Poll have been announced, revealing some interesting trends in the country’s rapidly growing corporate travel market.
Frequent travellers in China have again cast their vote for the top hospitality and airline organisations in the industry in this annual survey. This year, for the first time ever since the poll’s inception in 2005, the process became entirely paperless.
The results of the 2013 BTC Awards were announced on November 15, at a dinner at The St Regis Beijing attended by leading industry players from around the region.
This year, Singapore Airlines (SIA) did very well, overtaking Cathay Pacific to become Best Airline in the World, and maintaining the Best Asian Airline serving China title. It also bagged the Best Airline First Class award. Cathay Pacific did, however, scoop Best Airline Business Class and its sister airline Dragonair was voted as having the Best Airline Economy Class – both titles previously held by SIA. Air China, meanwhile, retained the Best Chinese Airline serving China title.
Incheon Airport picked up the newly added gong for Best Airport Duty Free in the World, while Hong Kong International Airport and Singapore Changi Airport remained Best Airport in China and The World respectively.
In the hotel sector, Grand Hyatt kept its position as the Best Hotel Brand in the World and Shangri-La maintained its accolade as Best Hotel Brand in China. Another new category – Best Mid-Market Hotel Brand in China – was handed to Holiday Inn. The newly opened Mandarin Oriental Pudong Shanghai meanwhile, won Best New Business Hotel in China, while Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake took the Best Resort Hotel in China title – which was previously held by a Mandarin Oriental property.
The Ascott retained its long-running grip on the title for Best Serviced Residence Brand in China, while Fraser Suites Nanjing won for the third time recognition as Best Serviced Residence in China.
The results will appear in the January/February 2014 issue of the magazine.
